This is achieved through a specially designed X-shaped fitting to influence sound and which allows the exhaust gases to mix from both sides of the engine, just like a finely tuned musical instrument creating incredible high frequency overtones as the i revs increase, all without any compromise in terms of clarity of sound and comfort. Fully ECE compliant and with a simple plug-and-play installation, it has no need to remap the ECU. Test results obtained by Akrapovic engineers under controlled conditions show gains in both horsepower and torque over the Porsche sports exhaust system of +8.2 kW at 5,600 rpm and +16.6 Nm at 2,400 rpm, respectively . The sound can be further controlled with the addition of the optional Akrapovic Sound Kit, which offers more operational functionality on the exhaust system. When equipped with the optional Akrapovic Sound Kit, the ECE homologation is no longer valid. The ECE type approval is only valid for vehicles equipped with an Otto / petrol particle filter.
